Why you should visit the Dom Tower in Utrecht

The Dom Tower is our pride, we love the church! Once you are entering Utrecht by train the churchtower will welcome you. When standing in one of Utrecht’s beautiful squares or along the canals you have an impressive view on the Dom Tower. This churchtower is already more than 600 years the symbol of Utrecht. With its 465 steps and a length of 112 meters is the Dom Tower the highest churchtower in the Netherlands. Because of this height you have an impressive view over the city of Utrecht. When it is bright enough you can also see Rotterdam.

In 2015 the Dom Tower and the Dom Church ended up on the second place of things to do in Utrecht and won the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award. This was not the first price they won, because in 2014 they also won the price for Excellence. Together they are on the 10th place of sightseeing in The Netherlands.

It is an inspiring place to come together for an business meeting. Expats in Utrecht are very welcome in the Dom Tower. The unique venues are the St. Michaels Chapel and the more intimate Van Heukelom Room. The last one can seat 14 persons. Do you have a business meeting, dinner or party with a big group? The St. Michaels Chapel is the place to be. The 14th century chapel with burning candles, stained glass windows and the high ceiling is also an unique location for a lively reception, a formal dinner or a party with live music. In 2015 the Dom Tower was awarded the international silver Green Key. This of Corporate Social Responsibility. They work in a sustainable way as it comes to tourism and recreation, but also when it comes to meeting and conference locations.

Around the Dom Tower

Not only the Dom Tower is worth a visit, also the surroundings are perfect for experience a cultural day in Utrecht. The Dom Square is just in front of the church and its tower. Under this square you find DOMunder, to see Archaeological finds. Is this not where you are looking for? On and around this square are also lovely shops, good restaurants, cosy bars and interesting musea and monuments. Shops and restaurants can be found on the Zadelstraat, Dom Square, Wed and the Mariaplaats.

• Tours: there are guided tours every day and this takes about one hour. The tour starts at the VVV-shop at Domplein 9.
• Opening hours: Sunday and Monday: 12:00-17:00. Tuesday until Saturday: 10:00-17:00.
• Tickets: Buy tickets for the Dom Tower in Utrecht online. You can also buy them at the VVV-shop at Domplein 9. The price for adults is €9.00 and for children (4-12 years) €5.00

The Dom Tower is easily accessible by foot and by public transport.
